Tax Freeze

What is the Tax Freeze?
The Tax Freeze is intended to place a cap on the amount of property taxes a senior citizen will pay as long as they meet the eligbility requirements.

Applicants must live on and use the property (for which they are applying for the tax freeze) as their primary residence. Only one place of residence may receive Tax Freeze assistance per year.

Who is the Tax Freeze available for?
The Tax Freeze is available to citizens that will be over the age of 65 by the end of the year the application is filed and have a total income less than 34,700 from all sources.

Where do I Apply?
To apply for the Tax Freeze visit one of our offices. Signed applications must be received in our office before April 7, 2009.

Documents to Bring When Applying
For All Applicants
  • Birth Certificate
  • Social Security Cards
  • Medicare Cards
  • 2007 Proof of Income (not to exceed $34,700 total)
    • Social Security
    • SSI
    • Workers' Compensation
    • Salaries or Wages
    • Interest or Dividends
    • Rental Income
    • Etc.
  • Mobile Home Title or Bill of Sale (if applies)
  • Death Certificate for Any Deceased Owner
  • Probated Will (if inherited)
